La Conner Polo Club is the closest full-season polo club to Seattle — roughly 70 minutes north on I-5, in the farmland of Washington's Skagit Valley. Seattle-area players come up for weekly club chukkers and USPA tournament weekends, and anyone can watch a match for $10 at the gate.
Getting here from Seattle
Take I-5 north to Conway or Mount Vernon, then head west toward La Conner. The field is at 16278 Laconner-Whitney Rd, La Conner, WA 98257. Parking is on site and free — no ferry, no mountain pass, just a straight shot up the interstate.
Players regularly make the trip from Seattle, Bellevue, Kirkland and Everett for evening chukkers, and from Portland and British Columbia for tournament weekends.
Playing polo as a Seattle-area rider
You don't need your own horses. La Conner is George Dill's home facility, so rental horses and grooms are available for lessons, chukkers and tournaments — which is what makes weekly play realistic for someone driving up from the city.
New riders start with an evaluation lesson before joining club chukkers. From there you can buy chukker packages or a club membership. See memberships and rates.
Watching polo near Seattle
Game days and club chukkers are open to spectators for $10 per person, paid at the gate. Bring chairs, a picnic and the family; leashed dogs are welcome. It's the closest place to Seattle to watch real, competitive polo rather than a one-off exhibition.
