Polo in Washington is a short, intense summer sport. The grass season runs roughly July through mid-September, and the state's play centers on a handful of clubs and a travelling circuit of USPA tournaments. La Conner Polo Club, in the Skagit Valley about an hour north of Seattle, is the west side's full-season club.
Where polo is played in Washington
On the west side, La Conner Polo Club plays a weekly schedule of club chukkers plus USPA tournaments including the Constitution Cup, the George Dill Legacy Cup and the Pretty Woman Women's Invitational. East of the Cascades, Spokane Polo Club hosts events such as Polopalooza and the Peter Dix Memorial.
Washington players also travel regionally through the season — Vancouver Polo Club and La Grande in British Columbia, and Rose City Polo near Portland. You can see which weekends are home and which are travel events on the 2026 schedule.
Which Washington clubs are active today?
Searches for polo in Washington still surface clubs from earlier eras — the Seattle-area and South Sound scenes both had fields that are no longer running a public season. If you land on a site with no current schedule, that is why.
Today, La Conner Polo Club is the full-season USPA club on the west side, with a published 2026 calendar of club chukkers and tournaments. Spokane Polo Club plays east of the Cascades. There is no full-season club on the Eastside or in the Snoqualmie Valley, so riders from King and Snohomish counties travel north — I-5, roughly 55 to 90 minutes depending on where you start.

How to start playing
You don't need horses of your own. La Conner is George Dill's home facility — his rental string supplies horses from British Columbia to Seattle, Santa Barbara, Indio and Texas — so lessons, chukkers and tournament mounts can all be rented, with grooms on site.

Watching polo in Washington
Spectators are welcome at La Conner game days and club chukkers for $10 per person at the gate. No dress code, no reservation — bring chairs, food and leashed dogs. It's one of the few places in the state to watch competitive polo rather than a charity exhibition.
